Students learned about Tunnel Books and used a childhood memory as inspiration for their own artwork. Each student completed a minimum of four unique paintings and removed certain areas so that each "page acted like a window to the next. The three pieces that you see her will also be featured in the 2020 Booth Western Art Museum Middle School/High School Art Show. |
The Tunnel Books were a partial Choice Project because Students were allowed to use media of their choice. Materials included pencil, pen, watercolors, gouache, markers, colored pencils, sharpies, and gel pens. I encouraged them to mix the media in order to achieve the look that they wanted, rather than simply choosing their favorite art supplies. Our 8th graders have really improved on style and planning portions of our studio projects!

Car Fabrication and Auto Design unit is underway! Students enjoyed debating features that are important for "sports cars" vs "Mom cars" and how design budgets are spent to reach a customer base. We watched a short film that documented the factory process of building a finished car from the beginning of the assembly line to the final product. Now students are working on acrylic paintings. Gorgeous progress so far! |
